Wow… This Summer is Flying By
I am amazed at how quickly the summer of 2008 has gone by. My office hours at First Baptist Church were replaced with many “mission field” experiences. Our office receptionist, Nancy, and I were laughing today about how frequently the ministry outside of our church building has taken me away from the office throughout the summer.
In June, Thea and I took several college students and recent high school graduates to Orange Beach, Alabama for a one week missions experience. We also met the folks that are staffing www.barefootbelievers.com ’s 2008 summer. These girls and guys are so great. I pray that one of our one week mission team participants might consider working with barefoot believers during the summer of 2009.
In June, I stayed outside (helping lead games and rec) throughout our church’s week of Vacation Bible School. It was a wonderful week of ministry with children from our community in Fort Payne.
In June, I also was able to travel to Washington DC for our youth choir tour. Roger Walworth’s leadership and love for the students at FBC was a wonderful encouragement to all of us.
In July, we had a great time on the forth with our adult sunday school class… a special thanks to Bob and Jill for hosting a wonderful party.
In July, we spent a week in Mobile, AL on a mission trip with about 70 FBC students. The week was a ten out of ten. For more on MFUGE visit… www.fuge.com
In July, we also partnered with FBC’s education minister, Doris Elliot, in another Vacation Bible School adventure. This mission VBS with a hispanic church in Fort Payne has been referred to this year as MFUGE at home. The commitment of the students to the hispanic church is an amazing blessing.

Please be in prayer for our outreach efforts in July and August of 2009. I really want to challenge our students to bring their peers to many of our youth ministry events in hopes of sharing this abundant life that Jesus spoke of in John 10:10
